Full Job Description:

Position Purpose

Perform all the accounts payable functions in accordance with Garden policy. Ensure all invoices are properly approved and posted to the correct accounts. Post revenue from multiple sources daily.

Maintain fixed asset records and reconcile accounts as assigned.


Essential Duties

  • Maintain and manage accounts payable including tax filings (1099s) and vendor contracts. Verify all vendors have W-9s. Work with other departments to ensure invoices are coded correctly and approved in accordance with Garden policy. Ensure invoices are paid when due, and research any outstanding checks at the end of each quarter.
  • Create daily revenue postings; verify daily revenue postings tie to the bank deposits
  • Reconcile various GL accounts at month end, quarter end, and year end (including with other departments’ records)
  • Reconcile and record corporate credit card journal entry monthly
  • Maintain capital and fixed asset listing
  • Prepare journal entries, as needed
  • Assist with monthly and year-end close procedures; send department expense reports at the end of the month and answering Applicable questions
  • Prepare audit schedules as assigned and assist with annual audit
  • Maintain, reconcile, and post all amortizations, prepaid, and insurances expenses
  • Assist with annual budgeting processes (operating and capital), as requested


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field, or comparable combination of education and experience
  • Two to four years’ general accounting experience
  • Understanding of accounting principles; experience with fund accounting, including unrestricted, temporarily restricted, and permanently restricted assets preferred
  • Highly detail oriented and organized
  • Ability to prioritize and meet assigned deadlines
  • Capability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
  • Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Office applications; experience with Solomon/Microsoft Dynamics is preferred; advanced Excel use is required
  • Must be comfortable with using multiple pieces of software to accomplish tasks
  • Not-for-profit experience preferred
  • Ability to work off-hours with occasional evenings, weekends, and/or holidays

Regular interaction with Garden employees.


External Communication

Limited.


Working Conditions

No physical effort beyond what’s typically required in a normal office environment. Potential for tight deadlines or time periods of high workload may require additional hours. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.

Must be able to walk, sit, stand, stoop, kneel, bend, see, hear, speak, read, and type. Manual dexterity and the ability to lift up to 10 pounds required.
