Our mission is to provide academic to career resources and opportunities to people of color.

Our Founder

Nicole Tinson

Nicole Tinson is the Founder and CEO of The Application and HBCU 20x20. A native of South Central Los Angeles, Nicole is an HBCU, Diversity and Inclusion, and Civil Rights advocate. She has learned to transform her pain into power and has made it her life’s work to empower others along the way.

She is an alumna of Dillard University and Yale University, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and was named on the Forbes 30 Under 30, Social Entrepreneurs List, The Root 100, in addition to making HBCU Buzz’s Top 30 Under 30 List, and Dillard University’s 40 Under 40 list. HBCU 20x20 and Nicole were most recently selected as a Gucci Changemaker for their commitment to diversity and service for the HBCU and Black community.

  • September 2017

    The Beginning

    HBCU 20x20 is launched in an op-ed by our CEO in Huffington Post.

  • October 2017

    First Visit

    HBCU 20x20 kicks off its tour and visits its first HBCU, Philander Smith in Little Rock, AR.

  • May 2018

    The Big 100

    First 100 people are placed into jobs and internships.

  • May 2019

    Mock Interview Program is Created

    With the help of 8,000 volunteers, HBCU 20x20 launches its Mock Interview Program, providing over 2000 mock interviews to Black college students.

  • August 2019

    First Summit

    HBCU 20x20 hosts its first HBCU Summit in Hillsboro, OR with Intel.

  • April 2020

    Thank you, Disney!

    The Walt Disney Company awards HBCU 20x20 a $100,000 grant.

  • September 2020

    We Made Forbes

    Forbes Magazine recognizes HBCU 20x20 for its work in uplifting the Black community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • July 2021

    Morris Brown College

    HBCU 20x20 becomes the official career center for Morris Brown College, located in Atlanta, GA.

  • Aug 2021

    Opening In Membership

    HBCU 20x20 hosts the HBCU Classic Career Fair at Ohio State University in Columbus, OH announcing that the HBCU 20x20 membership will now include Black students at PWI’s.

  • January 2022

    Amgen & HBCU 20x20 Unite

    HBCU 20x20 increased its presence in the biotechnology industry with the help of a $150,000 partnership with AMGEN.

  • February 2022

    Animated Dream

    HBCU 20x20’s increases its presence in the animation industry by announcing the world’s first HBCU Animation Fellowship with DreamWorks Animation.

  • September 2023

    The Next Chapter: Expansion

    HBCU 20x20 expands into The Application with the mission of providing academic and career resources to People of Color.
